Daniele Gaglianone is presenting the screening of his short film Joy, shot at the Ex MOI and, to follow, the screening of La mia classe at the Massimo.

Cinema Massimo – 6 November 2017, 8.30 p.m. – Screen Three

Back from its presentation in competition at the MigrArti Prize at the 74th Venice Film Festival, Zenit Arti Audiovisive, together with MOI and the National Cinema Museum, are presenting Daniele Gaglianone’s short film Joy.to the public at the Massimo.

The short film Joy springs from the filmmaker’s encounter with production company Zenit – specialised in producing films with social content - and the multiethnic association with MOI – born with the EX MOI, as a converging experience amongst people characterised by different cultures and geographical origins. The project is inspired by the contamination between reality and fiction, already implemented by Daniele Gaglianone in La Mia Classe and it has grown through a journey shared by the filmmaker and the work-group with MOI.

The creative process was taken forward through a series of workshops in which the participants’ experiences were shared, contributing to the screenplay and to the creation of the film characters.

During this evening, film backstage footage may also be viewed in addition to La mia classe, which ties up with Joy for its theme and structure. At the end, meeting with Daniele Gaglianone, Jasmine Deza, Mamman Lamine Sidi, Marco Regoli and Anna Tavella. Admission 6.00/4.00 euro.

Joy

(Italy 2017, 17’, DCP, col.)

Joy is a young second generation woman fond of dancing. Called by a friend of hers to carry out activities at the Ex Moi, she has to deal with her identity, her African roots and the expectations she feels she has to shoulder, after meeting these youngsters of sub-saharian origins. The plot delves into the feelings of a girl whose skin colour threatens to interfere with the perception the world has of her and which she has of the world around herself.
