From Turin to Carthage showcase. A three day event to delve into the origins of the peplum genre.

Cinema Massimo – From 27 to 31 October 2014 - Screen Three

The Turin University – Humanities Studies Department and the National Cinema Museum present the three day event From Turin to Carthage. The origins of peplum, a cycle of classical topic silent films made in Turin, restored by the Cinema Museum.

Three dates for viewing them anew and getting a novel taste of antiquity in an original way, in a quest for perspectives on the interaction of the seventh art with the world of myth and history (featuring Turin’s early Twentieth century years in particular). The screenings will be opened by short introductions led by experts in this field and will be accompanied live on pianoforte by Elisa Bonavero. Admission 6.00/4.00/3.00 euro.

This initiative is funded by Turin University and by the Compagnia di San Paolo.
