March’s CULT! evening focuses on Agnès Varda, with a screening of her film Les plages d’Agnès.

 

The National Cinema Museum devotes its March CULT! evening to the French film director, screenwriter and photographer Agnès Varda, with a screening of her film Les plages d’Agnès, scheduled for Monday, 14 March 2011, at 8.30 p.m. and repeated at 10.30 p.m. in Cinema Massimo’s Screen Three. Admission: 5.50/4.00/3.00 euros.

The National Cinema Museum presents Alfred Hitchcock’s film Psycho for the LEGEND FILM FESTIVAL in a 2K digital version.

 

The National Cinema Museum presents a screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s film Psycho on Monday, 14 March 2011 starting at 3.30 p.m. in Cinema Massimo’s Screen Two, in a 2K digital version. The film is the ninth Turin-based event of the Legend Film Festival, organised by Nexo Digital in partnership with the National Cinema Museum. The film will be repeated at 5.50/8.10/10.30 p.m. Admission: €7.00/5.00/3.50.

The Legend Film Festival is a touring film exhibition comprised of different sections which will visit many Italian cities during the months it is running. It is a true cultural event that focuses on the masterpieces of the cinema, screening them in 2k digital and audio Dolby Digital 5.1 formats.

THE MAGNIFICHE VISIONI (MAGNIFICENT VISIONS): Permanent Festival of Restored Film presents Mario Monicelli’s film Amici miei (My Friends).

 

The National Cinema Museum presents a screening of Mario Monicelli’s film Amici miei (My Friends) on Tuesday, 15 March 2011 at 8.45 p.m. in Cinema Massimo’s Screen Three, with a copy restored by Filmauro. The screening will be repeated on Wednesday, 16 March at 4 p.m.

The film is the tenth screening in our new and exciting season of the MAGNIFICHE VISIONI (MAGNIFICENT VISIONS): Permanent Festival of Restored Film. Admission: 5.50/4.00/3.00 euros.

The National Cinema Museum presents a free screening of Roberto Gavioli’s short film La lunga calza verde, based on the story by Cesare Zavattini, and Gianfranco Pannone’s documentary ma che Storia at Cinema Massimo as part of the NOTTE TRICOLORE.

 

The National Cinema Museum will be participating in NOTTE TRICOLORE, with a free screening in Cinema Massimo’s Screen Three at 10.30 p.m. of the short film La lunga calza verde (1961, 24’), an animated film by Roberto Gavioli based on a story by Cesare Zavattini, which was recently restored by the Cinecittà-Istituto Luce. This is an extraordinary anti-rhetorical prize-winning cartoon which tells the story of the epic that was the Risorgimento, made for the centenary of the Unification of Italy.

Afterwards there will be a screening of Gianfranco Pannone’s documentary ma che Storia (What a story, Italy 2010, 77’), a bittersweet voyage through history, retelling the long and difficult path that led to the unification of our country, presented at the last edition of the Venice Film Festival and made with precious historical material from the archives of the Archivio Luce.
