For 35mm in March, screening in memory of Jacques Rivette of his film Histoire de Marie et Julien.

Cinema Massimo – 1/2/6/28 March 2016 – Screen Three

The date for March with 35mm – the cycle conceived for the enhancement of the National Cinema Museum heritage on film – intends to recall Jacques Rivette, a month after his demise.

On this occasion, the Museum is offering one of his last films, Histoire de Marie et Julien (The story of Marie and Julien), splendidly played by Emmanuelle Béart, who was already his muse in the masterpiece La belle noiseuse. It features themes dear to this filmmaker from Rouen once again, starting from a desire to film time, which becomes a surface here on which to set out images laden with stories, but also an active element which writes and determines the narrative twists, a viewpoint which requires time in order to be seen, and which takes time of its own in its turn, to morph into waiting. The film is accompanied by some vintage trailers preserved by the Museum film archive. Film-print from the Museum collections. Admission 6.00/4.00/3.00 euro.
