Second appointment with MAGNIFICHE VISIONI/MAGNIFICENT VISIONS with Lola Montès by Max Ophüls, presented by Serge Toubiana.

For the third appointment with MAGNIFICHE VISIONI/MAGNIFICENT VISIONS. Permanent Festival of Restored Films an evening dedicated to the restoration of the film by Max Ophüls Lola Montès projected in the copy restored by the Cinémathèque française. The last feature film produced by the German director, who experimented with color for the first time, the film was heavily criticized at the time of its release and ignored by the public, and for this reason it was cut and remounted by the producers, against the wishes of its author.

In 2008 the Cinémathèque française, after patient reconstruction, returned the work to the public in its entirety. This screening will be preceded by a meeting with Serge Toubiana, director of the Cinémathèque francaise, who was responsible for the restoration.

MAGNIFICHE VISIONI/MAGNIFICENT VISIONS. Permanent Festival of Restored Films proposes two monthly appointments with masterpieces of the cinema from the golden age of classic cinema, ranging from silent movies to the nouvelles vague of the 60s and beyond, in restored copies from some of the most important film archives around the world.  All the films will be presented in the original version with Italian subtitles, and each screening will be introduced by filmmakers, critics and personalities from the world of culture and cinema.
