SoundFrames program, CreativAfrica 2018 part of the special event-exhibition Project-TO vs Voyage au Congo by Riccardo Mazza.
Mole Antonelliana – 23 June 2018, 21.00 – Central Hall
The Soundframes program, which runs through 7 January 2019, continues in the Central Hall of the Mole Antonelliana with a series of events.
Saturday, 23 June 2018, 20.30. A sonorization experiment will be held on the occasion of CreativAfrica 2018, now scheduled for June: Marc Allégret and André Gide’s Voyage au Congo, part travelogue part ethno-anthropological documentary recently restored by the Cinémathèque Royale de Belgique. From 1926 to 1927 Allégret accompanied Gide on his journey across French equatorial Africa. While Gide wrote in his diary, later published as Voyage au Congo, Allégret used the footage to tell a very personal version of the journey, which became his first silent film.
The film showing will feature the live performance of Riccardo Mazza’s music (Project-TO) by the composer.
Admission on presentation of National Museum of Cinema admission ticket.
Project-TO, begun in 2015, was based on an idea by Riccardo Mazza (composer, teacher at the Scuola di Alto Perfezionamento Musicale, Saluzzo, multimedia artist with a focus on experimental sonorization) together with Laura Pol, photographer and videomaker, with numerous works to her credit. This collective electronic music-visual project combines electronic elements with original compositions performed live, together with visual elements created in live set. The project is continuously evolving, transforming the space it occupies and generating a different live performance each time it is presented.
