At Giornate del Cinema Muto in Pordenone, an evening on Pina Menichelli, with a screening of the restored film La moglie di Claudio.
On Friday, 7 October 2011 at 10.30 p.m. in the Teatro Verdi, Pordenone, during Giornate del Cinema Muto, there will be an evening focusing on the enigmatic beauty of Pina Menichelli, the star of La moglie di Claudio, the National Cinema Museum’s latest restoration project, completed in partnership with Bologna city council’s film archive. The screening will be accompanied live by Masterclasses guest. The film, a melodrama featuring the most bizarre femme fatale main character yet, finally returns to the silver screen after years of obscurity. In fact, the only original copy we know to exist to date is a French re-edition held at Lobster Films in Paris, which was used as the basis for the complex restoration work carried out on the film. The scene order and the Italian title cards were reconstructed by following production records preserved in the museum’s archives.
