National Cinema Museum and Bologna Film Archive together againa for the restoration of "I Mostri" by Dino Risi.

72nd International Venice Film Festival - Semptember, 2 - 12

Following their joint work carried out over recent years on Elio Petri’s films, the Turin National Cinema Museum and the Bologna Film Archive are returning to the Venice Film Festival with the restoration of a top title in Italian cinema, I mostri (Opiate ‘67) by Dino Risi, carried out in collaboration with RTI-Mediaset, Lyon Film and Surf Film at L’Immagine Ritrovata Laboratory in Bologna.

The restoration of this film was made possible thanks to the crowdfunding campaign on the MakingOf.it website and to massive communication implemented on all the National Cinema Museum and Bologna Film Archive social channels.

One of the masterpieces of the commedia all’italiana has thus been returned to new life through this restoration.

Risi directed I mostri in 1963, photographing Rome in the early Sixties, and this is the common historical context acting as a backdrop to the 20 episodes composing the film, providing as many scenarios from real life.

The film will see its world premiere screening in the Venice Classics section.
