SPECIAL EVENT – Valentina Pedicini and Domenico Procacci are presenting the film "Dove cadono le ombre"

Cinema Massimo – 11 September 2017, 9.00 p.m. – Screen Two

Special event at the Cinema Massimo on Monday 11 September, with filmmaker Valentina Pedicini and producer Domenico Procacci, just back from the Venice Days screening at the 74th Venice Film Festival, who are presenting Dove cadono le ombre at the Cinema Massimo, the debut into feature-length fiction by this director from Puglia.
Positively welcomed by the critics and the public, the film is inspired by a true story: the forgotten genocide carried out between 1926 and 1986 by the Swiss Pro Juventute association against 2000 children from Jenisch families.
This debut of mine – stated Valentina Pedicini – is a film denouncing an unknown story, but it does not provide a historical reconstruction, I did not wish for a historiography film, I wished to turn a light upon those shadows mentioned in the title, upon those children robbed of their identity, of their roots”.
The introduction to the film, distributed by Fandango, will take place at 9.00 p.m. at Screen Two in the Cinema Massimo. Following the film, Valentina Pedicini and Domenico Procacci will be meeting the public. Admission 7.50/5.00 euro.

Dove cadono le ombre (Where shadows fall)
(Italy 2017, 95’)

Anna and Hans, a nurse and her assistant in an old people’s home, the ex orphanage where they were shut up during their childhood, live as if they were imprisoned within time and space. Gertrud emerges again from the past and the horror tape appears to rewind itself. The institute returns to what is used to be; a shelter for Jenisch children torn from their families, the temple for a eugenetics project headed by Gertrud. Enslaved by that place and a never-ending childhood of pain, Anna resumes her search for Franziska, a beloved friend whom she looks for everywhere and ceaselessly.

With Elena Cotta, Federica Rosellini, Josafat Vagni, Lucrezia Guidone.
