"Nick’s Movie" by Wim Wenders is inaugurating this new showcase organised by the CinePhilo university.

The rendez-vous with the showcase organised by the CinePhilo university group from the Turin University Philosophy Faculty is back again this year.
What kind of relationship is there between cinema and reality? And vice versa, between reality and cinema? These are just some of the questions that will be asked during the third edition of the festival organised by the CinePhilo group, which will explore some examples of cinema that presents itself, staged in different ways: from fiction film to documentary, to mockumentary. At the end of each screening there will be a debate with speakers, experts in the field, who will try from time to time to illuminate some aspects of meta-cinematography in a dialogue with the public.
The first film of the new season is the touching Lightning Over Water, in which Wim Wenders recounts the last days of his friend and director Nicholas Ray. At the end there will be an encounter with Pietro Kobau (professor of aesthetics). Alessandro Calefati will moderate.

On his deathbed, director Nicholas Ray receives a visit from his friend and director Wim Wenders, who documents the final days of his life with him, filming every moment. Ray agrees to live his last days in front of the camera, knowing what will end the shooting and the film itself: his own death. A moving and profound reflection on cinema and friendship, this film becomes a true, real testament, the last act with which Ray says goodbye to a life dedicated to cinema and shows the world his own death.
