The National Cinema Museum presents a new 2K digital restoration of Luchino Visconti’s The Leopard to mark the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy.

To mark the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy, the National Cinema Museum presents the new 2K digital version of Luchino Visconti’s The Leopard on Thursday, 24 March 2011, at 8.30 p.m. in Cinema Massimo’s Screen One. The restoration was a particularly complex project which was supervised by the film’s director of photography, Giuseppe Rotunno. Admission: 7.00/5.00/3.50 euros.

The Leopard was restored by Bologna borough council’s film archive, the L’Immagine Ritrovata laboratory, The Film Fountation, Pathé, Fondation Jérome Seydoux-Pathé, Twentieth Century Fox and the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (Experimental Cinematography Centre)-National Film Archive with support from Gucci and The Film Foundation. The film’s visual was restored by Digital Picture Restoration, Colorworks, while the sound was restored by Sound laboratory services, L’immagine Ritrovata. Special thanks go to Martin Scorsese, Titanus and Giuseppe Rotunno.
