The three Christmas holiday films at the Cinema Massimo: Suburbicon by George Clooney, Due sotto il burqa by Sou Abadi and Napoli velata by Ferzan Özpetek.
Cinema Massimo – From 22 December 2017 to 7 January 2018 – Screen One, Two and Three
For the period of the Christmas festivities, we are offering three highly interesting films at the Massimo, quite different from each other and capable – we believe – of appealing both to a cinephile audience as much as to a broader one. George Clooney’s new film Suburbicon, written with the Coen brothers and presented in competition at the latest Venice Film Festival, has been in theatres since 6 December. It is a black comedy set in America in the Fifties, with a star-studded cast (Matt Damon, Julianne Moore, Oscar Isaac). The same day also saw the release of Due sotto il burqa by Sou Abadi, a lovely comedy which won over the public at the Biografilm Festival. It is the story of a French couple – he’s a Catholic, she’s Muslim– which is forced to confront itself with the girl’s brother’s radicalism, for he has come back profoundly changed from a journey to Yemen. On Thursday 28 December instead, the new, much anticipated film by Ferzan Özpetek, Napoli velata (Veiled Naples), marvellously played by Giovanna Mezzogiorno and Alessandro Borghi, will be released.
