Piemonte Movie is presenting the 17th gLocal Film Festival at the Cinema Massimo.
Cinema Massimo – from 7 to 11 March 2018 – Screens One and Three
For the second consecutive year, the gLocal Film Festival – conceived by the Piemonte Movie Association – is finding the cinema Massimo an ideal venue for its documentary and short-film competitions, tributes to figures who have made our history of film, for focuses welcoming films from other festivals and the special screenings enriching gLocal every year. The festival cores are the two Spazio Piemonte and Panoramica Doc competitive sections; the first will see the 20 shorts from Too Short to Wait competing for the Torèt Prize for the Best Short Film; the second will award the best documentary among the 10 in competition, with the Alberto Signetto Torèt Prize. The tribute during this edition will be dedicated to Flavio Bucci, one of the top contemporary theatre and cinema actors, featuring classics of his such as La proprietà non è più un furto (Property Is No Longer a Theft), Ligabue and Maledetti vi amerò (To love the Damned), introduced on Tuesday 6 March by the screening of Diario di un pazzo (The Diary of a madman), 4th episode of the TV series Nella città vampira (In the vampire city) by Giorgio Bandini, in collaboration with Rai Teche Archive Alive! Bucci will also be awarded with the ‘Riserva Carlo Alberto’ Prize, a new award conceived with the aim of rediscovering and highlighting the artists who represent a unique and inestimable treasure for Turin. Another festival tribute is the one to Pit Formento, a recently passed away Turin documentary-maker; with the screening of his documentary Fred being an occasion for remembering him together with those who knew him closely. Moments for exchanges with twinned festivals will not be lacking: this year the Fish&Chips, Migrants Film Festival and Lovers Film Festival are adding themselves to the historical La Danza in 1 minuto, Alessandria Film Festival, Skepto International Film Festival and Valsusa Filmfest. Finally, a masterclass will enhance this showcase, dedicated to the relationship between actors and directors, led by Marco D’Amore (Gomorra – The series) and Francesco Ghiaccio (Un posto sicuro /A safe job).
