The season for Rediscovered Cinema at the Cinema, the Bologna Film Archive project which is bringing back great classics from the history of film to the big screen, in a restored version, will also be continuing in April with Bernardo Bertolucci’s masterpiece Novecento.

This film by Bertolucci - a marathon totalling five hours – recounts the story of three generations involved in class struggles in Emilia, a land of strong contrasts and robust traditions, against the backdrop of a century of Italian politics. Two children are born within the same land holding on 1st January in 1900, Olmo, a peasants’ son, and Alfredo, the master’s heir. The parallel lives of those two boys/men confront each other on the big screen, from the beginning of the century until 1945.
