For the coming Christmas Holidays, the National Museum of Cinema will always be open at the following times:
Monday, December the 24th, Christmas Eve 9 am -6 pm (Christmas hours)
Tuesday, December the 25th, Christmas 3 pm – 8 pm (Christmas hours)
Wednesday, December the 26th, Boxing Day 9 am - 8 pm (usual hours)
Monday, the 31st of December, New Year’s Eve 9 am – 6 pm (Christmas hours)
Tuesday, January the 1st, New Year’s Day 3 pm – 8 pm (Christmas hours)
Sunday, January the 6th, the Epiphany 9 am – 8 pm (usual hours)
The Christmas holidays are the perfect time to visit Merry Marilyn the National Museum of Cinema’s homage to the “brightest star of the Hollywood Galaxy”: Marilyn Monroe. Rare memorabilia staged on display in the Temple Hall with iconic objects to honour the woman who embodied the role of the star par excellence, more than anyone else.
Throughout the Christmas period you can visit the permanent collection and enjoy SoundFrames. Cinema e musica in mostra, an project on the contamination between films and music with an innovative and interactive set up.
#Headsets- the exhibition consists of screenings along the helicoidal ramp. Every clip has a specific audio that requires headsets.
From Tuesday the 25th of December to Sunday January the 6th, everyday a guided tour for children and their families at 11 am: Giochi e racconti prima dei Lumière (Games and stories before the Lumières): 1 hour, five € plus a reduced entrance fee to the Museum. At 4 pm the guided tour Alla scoperta del Museo (Discovering the Museum) for 1.30 H 6 € + reduced entrance fee to the Museum.

Friday, December the 28th, 4.30 pm a workshop for children and grown-ups Buon compleanno cinematografo! (Happy birthday movies) a tour to celebrate the anniversary of the Lumières’ invention, the magic machine that gave birth to one of the greatest adventures of our time: movies. Saturday, the 29th of December, at 5 pm visitors can take part in the workshop Senti chi parla! (Guess who’s speaking!) and experiment techniques to tailor dialogues and dub movies with an amusing interactive process so that famous stars or animal actors speak in your voice.

Again on Saturday the 29th at 6 pm, last guided tour of the great SOUNDFRAMES. Cinema e Musica in mostra exhibition closing on January the 7th.

And last but not least, on Sunday, January the 6th at 4.30 to celebrate the Epiphany and wave goodbye to the Christmas Holidays visitors can attend the Trucchi e magie con la Befana! (Tricks and Magic at Epiphany) workshop on magic and special effects: wiz off in a racing car, sail the high seas, make yourself invisible with a magic cloak or fly off on a broomstick just like the old woman at the Epiphany, thanks to magic of movies and special digital effects that become real.

CINEMA MASSIMO
The last Christmas movies of the year on Sunday, December the 30th at 10.30 am, Screen 3 of the Massimo Cinema with Jackson’s Snowman and Unwin’s Father Christmas (US 1982-91, 53’, HD). Two Christmas classics of animation from Raymond Briggs’s wonderful stories.

Sunday January the 6th, Screens 1 and 2 of the Massimo Cinema, at 10.30 am Snowtime by Jean-François Pouliot, François Brisson, part of the series Cinema con bebè (to the Movies with Baby)

All of these events at the National Museum of Cinema are part of Natale Magico (Magical Christmas) developed by the City of Turin for the 2018-2019 Festive Season.
The Library/Mediatheque and the Historical Archives will be closed from Monday, December the 24th to January, the 4th 2019. Normal hours will resume on Monday, January the 7th, 2019
