During the 30th edition of Giornate del Cinema Muto in Pordenone, one of the most important festivals devoted to silent film in the world, the National Cinema Museum will be in attendance with a new restoration project and two extremely rare films from its collection. During the festival, there will be a premiere of the complex restoration of La moglie di Claudio (Itala Film, 1918), produced in partnership with Bologna’s film archive: a dark, passionate drama starring the great diva Pina Menichelli. The silent film festival’s tribute to Italian silent film will also include Troppo bello! (Itala Film, 1909), a wild comedy where its main character Cretinetti (André Deed) is literally torn apart by his uncontrollable fans. Finally, as part of the tribute to the Thanhouser production house, the museum will present what is now considered the first and one of the most interesting dramatisations of David Copperfield.
