For the Roaring years. Italy, the boom, cinema showcase, new date with the film screening of Il boom (The boom) by Vittorio De Sica.

The so-called economic miracle was one of the key moments in the history of Italy in the second half of the Twentieth century. A defeated country emerging from World War II was able to channel its productive energies, in a great collective effort, to achieve a level of widespread prosperity never reached before. The "boom", a kind of transition from a society still largely tied to archaic cultural models to a new - but how much better? - modern society, obsessed by myths of progress, and especially by consumerism as a form of self-assertion of the self.

The retrospective - selected from a broad filmography referring to films that dealt more or less directly with different perspectives of Italian society at the time of the boom - offers a critical itinerary, reflecting on a historical period full of dreams and expectations, which soon morphed into frivolous, farcical aspects.
