As part of our tribute to Alfred Hitchcock, the National Cinema Museum presents his film Blackmail at Cinema Massimo, introduced by Giulia Carluccio with a piano accompaniment by Stefano Maccagno.

 As part of our tribute to Alfred Hitchcock, the National Cinema Museum presents the film Blackmail in Cinema Massimo’s Screen Three on Friday, 25 February 2011, at 8.30 p.m., screening the copy restored by the National Film & Television Archive and conserved by the National Cinema Museum.

The screening will be introduced by Giulia Carluccio and will be accompanied on the piano by Stefano Maccagno. Admission: 5.50/4.00/3.00 euros.

The tribute to Alfred Hitchcock has been organised by the National Cinema Museum in partnership with the University of Turin’s DAMS college for the performing arts, the British Film Institute and Bologna city council’s film archive. The retrospective does not include his silent films (except for Blackmail and The Lodger, which will be shown on 4th March) as they are currently being restored by the British Film Institute and will be presented at the London Olympics in 2012.

The National Cinema Museum presents John Schlesinger’s Midnight Cowboy for the LEGEND FILM FESTIVAL in 2K digital format.

 The National Cinema Museum presents a screening of John Schlesinger’s film Midnight Cowboy, in a 2K digital version in Cinema Massimo’s Screen Two on Monday, 28 February 2011 from 4.30 p.m. The film is the seventh Turin-based event of the Legend Film Festival, organised by Nexo Digital in partnership with the National Cinema Museum. The film will be repeated at 6.30 p.m./8.30 p.m./10.30 p.m. Admission: €7.00/5.00/3.50.

The Legend Film Festival is a touring film exhibition comprised of different sections which will visit many Italian cities during the months it is running. It is a true cultural event that focuses on the masterpieces of the cinema, screening them in 2k digital and audio Dolby Digital 5.1 formats.

The National Cinema Museum presents Marco Elter’s Le scarpe al sole for the Aspettando l’Adunata (Waiting for Roll Call) series.

 To mark the 84th National Meeting of Alpine Troops – in Turin from 6th to 8th May 2011 – the National Cinema Museum will be participating in the series of events entitled Aspettando l’Adunata (Waiting for Roll Call), organised by the National Alpine Troop Association (ANA)’s Turin branch, screening Marco Elter’s film Le scarpe al sole (1936) in Cinema Massimo’s Screen Three on Monday, 28 February 2011, at 9 p.m. The film depicts the adventures of three Alpine troops in the trenches and behind the front line. Free admission.

The MAGNIFICHE VISIONI (MAGNIFICENT VISIONS): Permanent Festival of Restored Film presents Richard Fleischer’s film Fantastic Voyage.

 On Tuesday, 1 March 2011, the National Cinema Museum will present a restored copy of Richard Fleischer’s film Fantastic Voyage at 8.45 p.m. in Cinema Massimo’s Screen Three. This copy has been reprinted by Swashbuckler Films. There will be a further screening on Wednesday 2 March at 4.30 p.m. 

The film is the eighth screening in the new and exciting season of the MAGNIFICHE VISIONI (MAGNIFICENT VISIONS): Permanent Festival of Restored Film. Admission: 5.50/4.00/3.00 euros.

Following its enormous success among members of the public and critics alike, this year the MAGNIFICHE VISIONI (MAGNIFICENT VISIONS): Permanent Festival of Restored Film will hold four events every month, showcasing cinema masterpieces from the golden age of classic cinema, ranging from silent film to the nouvelles vagues of the 1960s and beyond, in restored copies loaned from the most prestigious film archives in the world. The films will be shown in their original versions with Italian subtitles and every screening will be introduced – whenever possible – by film directors, critics or celebrities from the world of film and culture.

The National Cinema Museum presents the second part of its tribute to Alfred Hitchcock, NODO ALLA GOLA (ROPE), at Cinema Massimo.

 The National Cinema Museums tribute to the films of Alfred Hitchcock – the English film director, screenwriter, actor and film producer – continues with the second part of its wide-ranging retrospective, which began last February entitled Rope, at Cinema Massimo from the 1st to the 21st March 2011.

The tribute to Alfred Hitchcock is a programme organised by the National Cinema Museum and produced in partnership with the University of Turin’s DAMS college for the performing arts in partnership with the British Film Institute, Classic Films and Universal Pictures. The films Psycho, North by Northwest and Marnie will be shown as part of the Legend Film Festival.

The second part of the retrospective will open on Tuesday, 1st March 2011, at 4.15 p.m., in Cinema Massimo’s Screen Three with a screening of the film The Paradine Case. Admission: 5.50/4.00/3.00 euros.
