The National Cinema Museum presents part one of The cinema according to Bergman: The masterpieces of the great Swedish director at Cinema Massimo.

The National Cinema Museum pays tribute to the films of Ingmar Bergman – the Swedish film director, screenwriter and author for both stage and screen who died in 2007 – with an extensive retrospective which will end in May, entitled The cinema according to Bergman: The masterpieces of the great Swedish director.

The retrospective on Ingmar Bergman has been organised by Bologna borough council’s film archive and the National Cinema Museum, and has been completed in conjunction with the Svenska Institutet, the Svenska Filminstitutet-Cinemateket and Classic Films. Our special thanks go to the Swedish embassy in Italy for its support.

Part one of the retrospective, from 22 to 30 March 2011, will open on Tuesday, 22 March 2011, at 4.30 p.m., in Cinema Massimo’s Screen Three, with a screening of the film Hets (Frenzy), Bergman’s first screenplay for the film director Alf Sjöberg. Admission: 5.50/4.00/3.00 euros.
