The Turin Crime Festival is dedicating three highly emotionally charged titles to documentary film: "Il terrore dimenticato", "Anni spietati" and "Sale per la capra".

Cinema Massimo – 15 April 2018, at 4.00/6.00/8.30 p.m. – Screen Three

The rendez-vous with the Turin Crime Festival is returning again this year, dedicating the day on Sunday 15 April to documentary film. It starts at 4.00 p.m. with the theme of yesterday’s terrorism, which, as one of the films in the programme foretells, has been partly forgotten both regarding the seeds it has sown in today’s world – Il terrore dimenticato by Luca Lancise opens a glimpse onto vintage Middle-Eastern terrorism  - both for the intensity which marked the whole period of political terrorism in the Seventies, and particularly in Turin. Meeting before the film with Claudio Bertolotti (strategic analyst from the Institute for International Politics studies ISPI).

The second film in the afternoon, at 6.00 p.m., is Anni spietati by Igor Mendolia, which recounts those “leaden” years in Turin, from 1969 to 1982. Meeting before the film with Stefano Caselli and Davide Valentini, the authors of the Anni Spietati: Torino racconta la violenza e il terrorismo (Merciless Years: Turin recounts violence and terrorism) book.

This circuit goes full circle with an overview on the city, offering Sale per la capra by Dividi, Evangelisti and Greco at 8.30 p.m., the film dedicated to the massacre at the Statuto Cinema, featuring a never previously released document, that is the judiciary experiment in which the Tribunal set fire again to the Cinema. Meeting before the film with the filmmaker Fabrizio Dividi and with Patrizia Durante and Gabriele Galvagno, the authors of Statuto. La Memoria perduta (Statuto. A lost Memory).

Luca Lancise

Il terrore dimenticato (Forgotten terror)

(Italy 2016, 56’, HD, col.)

A “long decade” of Middle-Eastern spawned terrorism passed between the two attempts at Fiumicino airport on 17 December 1973 and the one on 27 December 1985. This documentary talks about it, offering an overview on an era, on a city and a series of persons who travelled along those ten years.

Sun 15, at 4.00 p.m.

Igor Mendolia

Anni spietati (Merciless years)

(Italy/Canada 2008, 63’, HD, col.)

Anni Spietati intends to reconstruct and to clarify a period of our recent history, the “leaden” years which found an unwilling capital in Turin from 1969 to 1982, a preferred scenario for assassinations and injuries, that marked a generation”.

Sun 15, at 6.00 p.m.

Fabrizio Dividi, Marta Evangelisti, Vincenzo Greco

Sale per la capra (Salt for the goat)

(Italy 2012, 60’, video, col.)

The film La chèvre was being screened on 13 February 1983 at the Statuto cinema in Turin, when suddenly, a fire transformed the premises into a flaming coffin. The victims were 64, all dead due to the cyanide acid vapours developing as the aftermath of the furnishings and curtains combustion. A terrible event, which united the city in deep mourning.
